Does this sound like it’s enough to keep my outside dog warm and content?

-

I will be getting a dog soon, in a few months, from a friend that is moving. She is some kind of mix between a german shepherd and a lab I believe. I’m 15 but I can’t keep the dog inside for various reasons, so I plan on providing for her the best I can. She lives outside already so she is accustomed to it. She has a dogloo now but my dad said he’s willing to spend $375 on a nice doghouse, and I read that you can fill it with a lot of straw to insulate the heat. And if we get one that is a few inches above the ground we can fill up that space with straw. She will also have a nice dog bed filled with cedar. I live in MD where we have really cool winters so on a snowy night we’ll bring her inside to sleep in the laundry room. Being home schooled I’ll be able to give her lots of attention and play time! However, she will be an outside dog for the majority.
Do you have any more suggestions and does it sound like she will feel well taken care of? I’m really concerned about it and have put a lot of thought into it, so please help out! Thanks

You are doing just fine! There is NO reason why a dog cannot live outside if the owner provides proper shelter etc.

The fact you will be at home and will have the opportunity to play/train/exercise the dog is also JUST FINE!

A dog does NOT have to live inside a home if the dog has good interaction with it’s humans and is well cared for. And it is a breed/mix of dog that is not considered a *lap/companion* dog. I would NOT put a Yorkshire Terrier outside…….You get my drift.

Give me a break, people. Some of the answers are just plain asinine.
